Rich media producers rejoice! G-Technology by Hitachi, a brand know for their well–packaged, high performance storage products, announced this week that their entire 3.5″ product line will incorporate Hitachi’s 2TB, 7,200 RPM drives.
With capacities from 2 to 32 TB and a 32 MB cache, G-Tech is now the only external storage provider in the world with a complete line of 2 TB, 7,200 RPM storage solutions specifically designed for Mac OS and audio and video pros. Direct–attached eSATA, FireWire 400/800 and mini SAS choices are available, as is 4G FC (Fibre Channel) for production environments that require simultaneous multi–user access.
Back in April of this year, G-Tech’s parent company, Fabrik, Inc., was acquired by Hitachi GST, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, which explains the inclusion of mechanisms from Hitachi Data Systems.
Fabrik’s businesses formed the core of a new Branded Business division whose brands include G-Technology™, offering external storage solutions for Mac OS users that dominate the content creation and professional audio/video markets; and SimpleTech™, providing external storage and backup solutions aimed at the Windows community. The new 2 TB models are said to be “available now” but have not yet appeared on their site.
