Ah, Which Bus Should I Take?

Hallo hoppy reader,

Several times this month, I’ve been asked about USB, FireWire and which is “better” for audio. Because of the recent jive about Apple “dropping” FireWire to control costs on some of their consumer products, I cannah take it any longer and this Bitstream installment is a response. Read more…

Materialism & Ephemeralization

Hallo hoppy readers,

Of late, I’ve been blathering on here at the Bitstream about virtualization as it relates to IT. As with many other things, it seems that R. Bucky Fuller got there first, coining a new term in 1922 to describe it. Read more…

The main improvement would be no line–of–sight restriction currently seen with IR remotes. Read more…

Mea Culpa

Hallo hoppy readers,

This Bitstream post is an apology to the folks at RealD for a previous posting. Back in October of last year, I said that, “…for digital cinema, the RealD process is just plain weak. With too much inter–ocular crosstalk for my taste, it detracts from the experience by constantly reminding you that you’re watching a movie.” I based that opinion on one example and, looks like that improvised example was poorly set up. My bad… Read more…

Hot Wheels

Hallo hoppy reader,

I’m prep’ing for an on–site at a customer’s studio and started searching for my vehicular conveyance. During that process, I was reminded of my first and only experience with an all–electric car, so this Bitstream topic is about green vehicles and how you can drive ’em even if you don’t own one. Acoustical Anachronism

Jello happy reader,

A recent posting in Gizmodo, carrying an inane headline, incited me to post. Now, I don’t expect insightful journalism either here at The Bitstream or from Gizmodo but, the piece was about a practical application of psychoacoustics and basic physics, so I decided to dive into this subject a bit as the fundamental tech involved is more widespread than one may think… Read more…
